How about some fun?!

So as we promised...we've got some left over make and take kits to give away from CHA.  In case you forgot or didn't know to begin with, we made really cute little message boards.  The make and take was a lot of fun, I had a blast hanging out with Robyn and CHA was a bit slow as expected, but fun.  I love meeting everyone and just hanging out playing with product.

Anyway, we have a few kits left over and I love to share....

To be entered just leave me a post to let me know what your favorite new product from us is.  To see what's new just click this link; "WHAT'S NEW AT PAPER HOUSE".  Thanks for playing along and good luck!  I'll pick five random winners to receive the kits.

Check out some of the fun people we met at CHA....and just look at what they did with their kits, I love that everyone does their own thing, really making it their's, that is so cool and that is what scrapbooking is all about!  Love it!!

Make and Take Instructions

1.  Start with the water color paper, fold in half and then trim. Tear off about a third of the bottom.  Glue to top of message board, centering.  (See sample photo for placement)

2.  Trim a piece of the orange script paper and glue over the water color paper.

3.  Trim little pieces from the green paper to create a "notebook". Punch a hole in the center of the "notebook" and then put a thumbtack threw hole and adhere to wood frame of message board.

4.  Add the border from the cardstock sticker to the bottom of the wood frame.

5.  Adhere diecuts and thumbtacks.  Use ribbon for accents.

6.  To complete the message board add rub-ons to the notebook top page and directly on the paper and cork if desired.

* We also used some Fiber Scraps Tintz on the wood.  The walnut ink daubers work great for staining the wooden frame, and for inking the edges of the papers.

Paper House and Digital Scrapbooking

I've been wanting to share this with you all for some time now.  As many of you know digital scrapbooking has really started to take off.  What most of us "paper scrappers" like is that even if we don't do the digi thing...we can still enjoy all it has to offer.  What I'm talking about is Hybrid Scrapbooking.  Half paper/half digi - you know...use that pc for something on the page.  I want to share a very simple way to use Paper House products digitally.  Of course you can scan the products and use them that way...add a little drop shadow on those diecuts and you are good to go;-)  But...check out this project;

Img_0941

Here is the paper that I used to create this project;

P0217_horsestamp

Basically all I did was scanned in the paper, resized, added some personalized text and changed the color.  Possibilities are really endless as you can image.   I used Photoshop to do all the edited.  If you have any questions about specific details please just let me know...and if you do create something hybrid, we would love to see it!!

Happy Digi Scrapping!

New Blog RAK! Lots of Product to Win!!

This is so exciting!  We have some kits to share with you!  The first RAK is a mini album kit, summer themed.  You may have already seen the cute little album posted, it's got lots of fun product like chipboard, transparencies, papers and cardstock stickers.  If you would like to be entered in the RAK drawing just drop us a note (by posting on this blog entry) and let us know what your favorite part of summer is.  For me it's just the fact that the kids have no school and we can sit back and just relax!  No rushing here and there (well....not as much rushing here and there I should say).

Here's the album again in case you missed it.  The kit comes with everything you need to create this and then some.  I'll keep this RAK open until the end of the week then I'll post a winner on Friday.   Good luck!!

Susan Gilman Spring Show -Retailers Check Here!

The Susan Gilman Spring show in MA was a great time.  We had a blast in our classes, celebrated a special birthday and made lots of new friends.  I hope that you all had as much fun as we did!

As promised, here are the instructions for the two classes and for the make and take clipboard we did at the make and take frenzy.  If you have any questions please just let me know!

Altered Impressions Clipboards - GREAT class idea!

Altered_impressions_clipboards

Supplies:

2 Pieces of Impressions Paper

1 Transparency Border

1 Transparency Slide Mount

1 Sheet of Twill Fabric Stickers

1 Clipboard

Adhesive

Fiber Scraps Tintz

Instructions:

1.  Using a template or the actual clipboard, trace one piece from each sheet of paper in the kit.  If you do not use a template you will have to measure the top of the paper and trim a rectangle type shape so you can slide the paper up under the clip on the clipboard.

2.  Once you have the papers cut out, tear the darker paper down the center and on a slant.  (See sample).  Once you have both papers adhered, use sandpaper to “clean up” the edges.  Use the Fiber Scraps Tintz Ink along the edges of the paper/clipboard to complete the look.

3.  Apply Mod Podge adhesive over entire clipboard (including under the clip) and adhere the lighter piece of paper you have cut out.

4.  Use adhesive of choice (you can use the Mod Podge or a glue stick) and apply to the torn piece of paper and then adhere to the clipboard over the paper you just glued down.

5.  Cut out a transparency border and use Mod Podge to adhere to clipboard.

6.  Cut the transparency slide mount frame in half to create photo corners or “brackets”, put aside until you adhere your twill.

7.  Cut out the twill and ink the edges and “highlight” random words if desired using the Fiber Scraps Tintz.  Cut the twill in the shape of a tag if desired.  You may also cut the tag into three pieces for a fun random look.  Add twill words to the clipboard and cut out the swirl accents if desired and adhere to clipboard.  (See sample for placement)

8.  Adhere the transparency slide mounts over twill, using Mod Podge or a Glue Stick.

9.  Cut and ink left over strips of the twill and fold over the clipboard handle to create a “ribbon” look, or just tie a couple pieces of ribbon to finish it up.

Scorer or Bone Folder

Instructions:

  1. To      begin fold the black cardstock in half. Once it is folded measure ½ inch from the fold, mark with a      pen/pencil, score and fold back. Repeat this for all pieces of cardstock on both sides. Use a corner punch to round the outside      edges of the album.
  2. Once      your album base is set you can go ahead and design the front cover, we      will put the album together using eyelets and ribbon once we have      completely decorated it (this gives the glitter time to dry while we      continue working). We used the Summer      Fun paper and just cut the words out and then cut the top to mimic      waves. Once you have the paper cut      you can go ahead and adhere it down.
  3. Adhere      your transparency slide mount, chipboard arrows and butterfly to the front      cover. When you adhere the butterfly      just glue the center down so the wings can pop up. Add gems to the center of your      butterfly.
  4. Adhere      a strip of orange polka dot ribbon down the left side of the album      cover. (See sample for placement.)
  5. Use      the glitter to draw a little swirly line from the butterfly. Set the cover design aside to dry and      begin working on the inside of your album.
  6. Now      the fun part! Use the chipboard,      epoxy stickers, rub-ons, transparencies and paper to design and embellish      the inside of your album (Paper House also carries many other products      that would match perfectly with the album product in your kit. For details please visit www.paperhouseproductions.com      and check out the “fun beach” product category!

There is no right or wrong way to do this! Use 4x6 photos, round the corners and go to town! See sample for suggested placement of product.

Keep in mind that as you design your album we will discuss many different ways to use and adhere your products. The possibilities are endless.

Ever Catch a Leprechaun?

Ah well...us neither, but hey, we sure did try!  Richard's little leprechaun trap sure did get damaged by the little bugger too (so cute!)

My son had to make a leprechaun trap for school this year so we used the awesome Paper House Ireland paper, some glitter and adhesive....pretty cute huh!  (the top of the box says "no gold here" to "trick" the leprechaun)  Oh and he added some of the Impression Cardstock Stickers as "pictures" on the wall, the inside of the box was to look "inviting", not too bad....he also made his own gold coins using gold embossing powder and a circle punch.  The "bed" which is made out of tissues has double sided adhesive all over it so when the little Leprechaun tries to go to sleep he'll stick to the bed...guess he wasn't all that tired though!
